Here are some additional pieces of information that you may find useful as you work on your debt problem.
Know Your Rights when Dealing with Debt Collectors
Debt Collectors can be incredibly aggressive and may use unsavory tactics to get you to make commitments that might not be in your best interest. You should know that there are laws which regulate what they can legally do to you. You should be familiar with these if you are in regular contact with a debt collector.
Some keys to remember:
The debt collector cannot contact you at inconvenient times (such as late at night or early in the morning)
You can send a letter to the debt collector to stop contacting you and they must comply - your debt won't go away but they will stop contacting you
The debt collector can't harass you with threats, obscenity or repeated phone calls to annoy
The debt collector can't make false statements about themselves (i.e.: their identity)
